Wall Bars Buying Guide: Series 1 vs Series 2 vs Series 7

BenchK makes 25+ wall bar configurations across three series, from $635 to $2,955. If you've decided on BenchK but aren't sure which series or model fits, this guide breaks down every difference — construction, dimensions, capacity, accessories, ceiling requirements — so you can pick the right one.

How BenchK model numbers work

Once you learn the system, every model name tells you exactly what's inside the box.

The format

[Series][Pull-up bar type][Attachment count][Color]

1st digit — Series: 1 (all-wood, 120 kg) · 2 (steel + wood, 150 kg) · 7 (wide steel + wood, 150 kg)

2nd digit — Pull-up bar: 0 (none) · 1 (adjustable wooden, PB076/PB204) · 2 (fixed steel 6-grip, PB2) · 3 (convertible steel/barbell holder, PB3)

3rd digit — Attachments: 0 (base only) · 1 (pull-up bar) · 2 (pull-up + dip) · 3 (pull-up + dip + bench)

Letter — Color: B (black) · W (white) · Series 1 has no letter (natural beech only)

Examples. 211B = Series 2, wooden pull-up bar, pull-up only, black ($915). 733B = Series 7, convertible bar, all three attachments, black ($2,735) — the maximum single-frame configuration. 700B = Series 7 base, no pull-up, no attachments ($689).

Series 1 — all-wood warmth

Pure beech wood, no steel frame. FSC-certified solid beech, hand-oiled three times with food-safe oil. This is the traditional Scandinavian wall bar aesthetic.

Who Series 1 is for

  • Aesthetic-first home users who want something that looks like Scandinavian furniture
  • Homes with standard 8-foot ceilings or lower — Series 1 fits at 86.6″
  • Lighter users — 120 kg limit works for most but excludes heavier users
  • Children's rooms — all-wood warmth, natural grip
  • Standing desk users — the 112 includes the BenchTop desk attachment

What you give up

  • 120 kg limit excludes heavier users and dynamic movements (kipping, ring work)
  • Only the wooden pull-up bar — no steel 6-grip or convertible barbell holder
  • No dip bar or bench compatibility
  • Narrower: 64 cm vs 67 cm for Series 2 and 7

Series 2 — the one most people buy

Powder-coated steel frame with FSC-certified beech rungs, hand-oiled three times. The steel adds capacity and accessory compatibility while the beech rungs keep the warmth.

The ceiling requirement

Series 2 needs 240 cm (94.5″) minimum. Most American homes have 8-foot (96″ / 244 cm) ceilings — about 5.5″ clearance. Tight but it works. Measure before ordering. Dropped ceilings, basement installs, or older construction may fall short.

Series 7 — maximum everything

Same steel + beech combination as Series 2 but taller and with 9 rungs instead of 8. The flagship series for maximum accessory compatibility.

Series 7 lineup (highlights)

  • BenchK 700B — $689 — Base wall bars
  • BenchK 711B — $969 — + adjustable beech pull-up bar
  • BenchK 721B — $1,069 — + fixed steel 6-grip pull-up bar

  • BenchK 731B — $1,239 — + convertible PB3
  • BenchK 733B — $2,735 — + PB3 + dip bar + bench (maximum single-frame config)
  • BenchK VMS — $2,955 — 2 wall bars + multifunctional pull-up bar + dip bar + Recoil S2

The ceiling problem

Series 7 needs 250 cm (98.5″) minimum. Standard American 8-foot ceilings (96″) are NOT tall enough. You need 9-foot ceilings or higher. This single requirement eliminates Series 7 for many homes — measure before you fall in love with a model number.

Which pull-up bar?

Three types. This choice matters.

  • Wooden Adjustable (PB076/PB204) — $279. Round beech bar, height-adjustable along the wall bars. Best for general pull-ups, aesthetics, and children (wood is warmer and easier on small hands). One grip width only.
  • Steel 6-Grip Fixed (PB2) — $379. Six grip positions: wide, narrow, neutral, angled. Best for serious pull-up training with grip variety and commercial use.
  • Convertible PB3 — $549. Same 6 grip positions as PB2 plus it doubles as a barbell holder (max 200 kg / 440 lb). Flip it for pull-ups or barbell work. Best for anyone who wants barbell training integrated into wall bars.

What to buy for your situation

Back pain / decompression — BenchK 211B ($915). Eight rungs at different heights let you do graduated decompression — grip a high rung, feet on a lower one, let hips drop for gentle traction. Progress to full dead hangs from the pull-up bar.

Family with kids — BenchK 211B + A076 ($1,139). Kids climb rungs (age 2+), swing on rings (age 3+), climb the rope (age 4+). Parents use the pull-up bar. Wooden bar is safer for small hands.

Serious training, no barbell — BenchK 722B ($1,699). Steel 6-grip bar, dip bar with PU armrests, 9 rungs. Add a Recoil S2 ($399–$459) for suspension work.

Maximum home gym, with barbell — BenchK 733B ($2,735). Convertible PB3 (up to 200 kg), dip bar, bench that folds flat. Add Recoil S2 and you have a complete station.

PT clinic or Pilates studio — BenchK 721B + Recoil S2 Gym ($1,498/unit). Steel 6-grip bar for variety. Recoil S2 Gym has permanent wall mount for clinical use. Multiply by stations needed (typically 4–8).

Standing desk — BenchK 712B ($1,109). Wall bars + pull-up bar + BenchTop desk. Work standing, stretch between meetings, do pull-ups on breaks.

Tightest budget — BenchK 200B ($635).Base wall bars. Add a pull-up bar later ($279–$549). The whole point of modular: you don't buy everything at once.

Installation basics

Wall types

  • Concrete or brick: Fischer expansion plugs included. PS8 ($89) for Series 1/2, PS12 ($99) for Series 7.
  • Wooden stud frame (most US homes): WHB+S8 wall holder ($289) for Series 2/7, WH1+S4 ($259) for Series 1.

Ceiling decision tree

  • Under 90.5″ → Series 1 only
  • 94.5″ to 98.4″ → Series 1 or Series 2
  • 98.5″+ → All series

Measure your ceiling. This is the #1 reason for returns.

The growth path

You don't have to decide everything now.

  • Start. BenchK 200B or 211B ($635–$915). Wall bars, maybe a pull-up bar.
  • Month 3–6. Add Recoil S2 ($399–$459). Now you have 100+ exercises.
  • Month 6–12. Add steel pull-up bar ($379) or gymnastic set ($239).
  • Year 1–2. Add dip bar ($629).
  • Year 2+. Add bench ($865) or desk ($149) or boxing setup ($829).

Every addition builds on what you already have. Nothing gets replaced or wasted.

Frequently asked questions

Which BenchK series is best for home use?
Series 2 for most people — right balance of price ($635–$2,679), capacity (150 kg), and accessory compatibility. Series 1 if aesthetics are everything or ceilings are low. Series 7 if ceilings are 98.5″+ and you want maximum options.
Will BenchK fit under my ceiling?
Series 1 needs ~90.5″. Series 2 needs 94.5″. Series 7 needs 98.5″. Standard 8-foot ceilings (96″) work for Series 1 and 2 but NOT Series 7. Measure actual ceiling height before ordering.
What's the difference between 200B and 700B?
200B ($635) is Series 2: 8 rungs, 230 cm, 150 kg. 700B ($689) is Series 7: 9 rungs, 240 cm, 150 kg, wider frame. The $54 difference is small — the ceiling requirement (250 cm for Series 7 vs 240 cm for Series 2) is what matters.
Can I start basic and add accessories later?
Yes. Core advantage of the modular system. Start with a 200B ($635) or 700B ($689), add pull-up bars, dip bars, bench, suspension trainers, desk, or gymnastic set whenever you want.
How much does a full setup cost?
Maximum single unit: BenchK 733B at $2,735 + Recoil S2 at $399 = $3,134. The VMS costs $2,955 with 2 wall bars + pull-up bar + dip bar + Recoil S2. Individual accessories range from $149 (desk) to $865 (bench).
Is the PB3 worth the upgrade from PB2?
PB3 ($549) costs $170 more than PB2 ($379) but adds barbell holder functionality (up to 200 kg). If you'll use a barbell at all, yes. If bodyweight only, PB2 gives you the same 6 grips for less.
Can I mount BenchK on drywall?
No. Must mount into studs (WHB+S8 holder, $289) or concrete/brick (expansion plugs, $89–$99). Drywall alone cannot support the load.
